When it comes to website platforms, I’ve tried them all. Over the years, I’ve designed websites for wordpress, squarespace, wix, you name it. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon Showit that I was immediately sold.
Showit is the first platform that solved a lot of the issues I’d run into as a designer with the other platforms out there. Now, I use it for my own business as well as all of my clients.
Showit is a hosting platform and visual website builder. It started out as a website builder for photographers, but has since grown to be used by business owners in all kinds of industries!
With any of the three paid plans, you get hosting through the WordPress WPengine, along with a fully customizable theme builder for your site.
Sounds great, but what’s so special about it? Here are a few of the reasons why I’m obsessed:
Showit’s website builder is drag-and-drop, which means you have the creative freedom to design it however you want! There’s no limitations like you run into with other platforms. Want your text to overlay an image? Just drag it there. Want your logo in a specific location in the navigation? Boom, DONE. The best part? there’s ZERO coding needed. EVER! You have the freedom to edit text, shapes, images, fonts, colors, etc. however you want. If you’re familiar with creating wireframes in illustrator, XD, or canva, it’s that customizable!
This also makes the platform easy to learn and maintain and is why I feel confident when handing a website off to a client – I know they’ll be able to make changes on their own if they need to.
With Showit, you have the ability to view both the mobile and desktop view simultaneously. This is amazing, because often the way something looks on a Desktop doesn’t look as great on mobile. With a separate mobile view, you’re able to customize your pages for mobile separate from the desktop! With over half of web traffic world-wide coming from mobile, it’s so important that your mobile site functions and looks just as good as your desktop version.
Showit integrates with WordPress for blogging. One of the things I DO love about wordpress is its capabilities when it comes to blogging. Which is why I think this platform is amazing if you’re someone who has a blog as part of their website! You get all of the SEO capabilities, plug-ins, and publishing tools that come with wordpress, with the flexibility to design your site and blog however you want within Showit.
Some people get confused by this at first, but Showit does all the work when it comes to setting it up. Simply put, you’ll use Showit to create and design your website, and then login into your wordpress dashboard (Showit will provide you the link and login) like you normally would with WordPress and write your blog posts in there.
NOTE: If you currently have a blog and want to keep all of your posts, but want to switch your site over to Showit, someone on the Showit team will transfer over all your WordPress or Squarespace blog posts to your new Showit designed WordPress blog. You can read more about it here.
Showit hosts your website for you. In the past when I’ve used other platforms, I had to either hire a developer or purchase a theme, find a hosting company to host my website, and then purchase the domain. With Showit, your website fees are your domain name and what you pay them monthly to host your website and have access to the site builder. This makes it so easy to keep your website up to date because you don’t have to worry about updating a theme or going through a separate platform to manage hosting. It’s all-in-one. If you’re just getting started with your website, this makes set-up and maintenance much simpler for you.
Showit’s 1:1 support is AMAZING. Anytime you have a question or run into an issue, you can chat with a real live person right within your account and they’ll respond within 24 hours. If your site crashes or something major happens, they have an emergency service for quicker response times too. While all of the platforms out there have resources or support, I’ve found Showit’s customer service to be the most impressive.
All of the website platforms out there have their pros and cons. If you have access to a developer or can code, WordPress might be great for you! Though Showit can easily integrate e-commerce, Squarespace has more e-commerce capabilities built in and is great in that regard. I’ve read so many different reviews on all the different platforms out there and at the end of the day, there’s no WRONG platform for your site. But if you’re looking for more creative freedom and customization within your website builder, want a site you can easily maintain, and need a blog, then Showit is the platform for you!
